Prime Minister De Croo lays 'foundation stone' of new company building in Poldergote: 'Good for more than 100 jobs'

In the New Zeel industrial zone this weekend, construction of a new flexible business premises was kicked off. Project developer Viamar Real Estate was able to convince Prime Minister Alexander De Croo (Open Vld) to attend the spectacular laying of the foundation stone. "This project accounts for more than 100 full-time jobs in Zele and the surrounding area," says Philippe Van Robaeys of Viamar Real Estate.

Viamar is not on its trial run in the Zeel industrial zone. The first project (site of some 6,700 square metres) involves two buildings that have been leased in one unit on a long-term lease since mid-2019 to Healthy Bakery Products, an industrial bakery specialising in gluten-free materials. The latest project whose foundation stone was laid this weekend comprises 20,000 square metres. The building's span includes 40 metres. "With our company, we are responding to the vision of more and more companies who consciously do not or no longer own their real estate themselves. They do so in order to focus on their core business and fully dedicate their financial resources to it," Philippe Van Robaeys outlines.

Red Devils

The project has been successful, with all business space already rented out. The best-known name taking up residence is 3Motion, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary and has only been located in another commercial building on the same Poldergote Street for a good three years, but is already bursting at the seams there again. With around 50 employees, the company operates in physical marketing items such as displays and packaging, visual communication and 3D solutions. Just last week, 3Motion made headlines with its large-format cardboard Red Devils, a collaboration with the Belgian Football Federation. Case manager Femke Helon won the 'Womed Award', the award for female entrepreneur of the year, early this year.

Pool and spa

A second player is Procopi Benelux, a major stakeholder in the European pool and spa world. Already based in Jupille-sur-Meuse (Liège), the company will transfer the bulk of its operations to Zele and function as the group's future headquarters in the Benelux region with its customers being specialist retailers only. Finally, Boxify is a Brussels-based company digitising the user experience and accessibility of physical storage. Thanks to the technology, its users no longer face space constraints and have flexible storage space. They help companies manage the logistics, handling and storage of their archives, goods or any other item.

Blessing for employment

Van Robaeys: ""We are very pleased and grateful to be able to establish these three quality companies in Zele. The main assets in this were the excellent central location near the E17 and the golden economic triangle Antwerp-Brussels-Ghent, the flexibility of the project now and in the future and, finally, the innovative sustainable approach. Together, they will go on to provide employment of more than 100 full-time equivalents, a boon for employment in the region."" The companies will be able to occupy the buildings as early as December 1, the construction team will deliver everything by then, key on the door.
